How many of these vintage objects can you identify? If you're in the
typical demographic for this group, most should be easy, and you may still
own some. Roland will probably ace it and score 60/60.

https://www.exploredplanet.com/life/are-you-able-to-pass-this-vintage-items-quiz-most-cant/

I got:
You scored 49 out of 60
YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF.
Great job! That score is amazing.

I got 57, never having seen a heckler.

A more interesting question would be how many of these things we still have and use.

I have a crank coffee grinder I use every day, a pencil sharpener just
like the one in the picture (with the missing cover to catch the
shavings), still have a cassette player in the clock radio on my bed,
and we get milk in glass bottles from a local store. We finally
replaced the canister vacuum last year.

I got 60/60, most without seeing the multiple choices, some having to
ignore somewhat USA-ian terminology, and only had to guess one (the
Nintendo) but picked the most well known of the four.

How many do I or have I, owned: about 50% & 80% perhaps (although I
wasn't keeping score). Some like the dumb waiter aren't really domestic
products, you'd need to live in a particular sort of house.

56/60... what the heck is a heckler! Carpetbeaters weren't in vogue
by my time; Ma's vacuum cleaner looked like the test sample though,
being an Electrolux -- she did the *luxing* every Monday. And that
fax machine wuz a kookie version...

chose pepper grinder instead of Coffee.

I've got five of those things here - two within sight.

A red herring, because that one was a hay straightener.

No it wasn’t. The correct answer was Heckling.

“This is called heckling. It is the last step in dressing flax or prepping
fibers to be spun. In this step, the flax is run through combs that
straighten it and remove any impurities. After heckling, the flax is ready
to be spun!”

60/60??

54 out of 60, which depresses me more than you can imagine.

I was reminded that it's been ages since I ate fondue... Or its cousin
that I prefer, raclette; I have a raclette grill somewhere in the back
of the kitchen...

I was also reminded that the world's largest collection of clothes irons
belongs to a somewhat eccentric Romanian entrepreneur by the name of Ion
Chirescu, who has built a gallery to permanently exhibit them (and his
collection of corkscrews and trivets, both also world records), complete
with a theatre to watch videos on the history of irons (and indeed
corkscrews and trivets.)

Oddly enough, they're actually beautifully presented, and really quite
fascinating.

Their system has a bug in it then, because I selected "hay straightener"
and have a screenshot of my 60/60 score.

I also got those two wrong, plus the razor slot in the cabinet that I
thought was for ventilation, and the sugar sifter that I thought was an
egg separator. Only 56/60.

Nice one!

56 here too. Same answers except I guessed the coffee grinder correctly
but failed to recognise the skate tightening key. Several answers were
educated guesses rather than actual knowledge.

I got bored and did not finish. Too much of a mix of a couple of
obscure items requiring detailed knowledge of a particular subject, some
needing knowledge of US terminology but many that anyone older than a
teenager would know.

Qué?

The four offerings were: 1) ATARI SYSTEM; 2) SEGA GENESIS; 3) NINTENDO
64; 4) SEGA DREAMCAST

The correct choice/answer is/was ATARI SYSTEM...

Roland has to roll back from 60/60... but we'll no doubt experience
the evidential fallback.
