Like most minor updates, nothing to get lathered about. I'll let it do

Some of it is changes to appease the EU laws (and so only work in the
EU countries) and most of the rest of it is the usual pointless
gimmickry used by a tiny percentage of users.

Probably just a few new emoticons. Apple updates rarely have anything
useful. A little fluff and bullshit is the most you can hope for.

I often look down the list of new features on iOS releases and often
one of the first things I see is "new emojis". I lose interest at that
point.

Where this falls apart:

I just sent a "lime" emoji as a test. It shows up on my iMac (up to
date OS) as a lemon with a green square to the right.

Since my SO (recipient of the test) has an iPhone 7, she won't get the
lime emoji either.

You probably get very excited when you see a few new emojis.

Some people don't.

Nope.

Most people don't. That doesn't mean the only things that change are
emojis. Of course strange childish reactionaries who stop reading at the
first hint of emojis won't know that. Their loss.

TIL: Recognizing that OS updates are useful and have more than just
emoji updates is a cult behavior.

Trolling. Pretty pathetic behavior. Most adults who dislike something
don't spend hours and hours every day trolling forums for that thing
because they have better things to do with their time.

I was joking about the lime emoji, but seriously surprised that it
doesn't get rendered properly on older machines. I wonder how it will
look on Android phones? How do any Apple emojis look on other machines?

I know the poop emoji translates over to Android properly!

There is a website that shows you how all emojis are rendered by different

Unlike you, I'm in the Apple newsgroups because I enjoy using their
products. Go ahead and point to a single post from me in the Android
newsgroups. We'll wait...
