Tonight/Sunday morning is when we do the clock dance for those of
us who observe the time change.

It's your choice to do this task before going to bed tonight. Or
if you are a stickler for doing it at the moment it actually changes,
that means getting up at 2:00 a.m. Then again, you can wait until
you arise Sunday morning to change clocks in your house that don't
automatically set themselves.

I changed all of mine, that don't change by themselves, this morning.
My wife changed the air-fryer clock, so I didn't have to read the damned
instructions again.
Don't forget the vehicles! I suppose "modern" cars change themselves,
but I really have no idea.

Can't speak for all, bon on my last three or four cars you had to push a
button to select DST or standard. The time comes from satellites that
don't change.

Phone and computers change, everything else here is manual.

My cars'clocks have to be set manually. I have to digital watches that
need to be set. I may have to find instructional videos for them...

In my truck, I just let the damn clock stay on one time all year. I know
it's an hour off. No problem to add or subtract 1.

I learned that in first grade.

RCMP Offiser Dave should follow yer wise example...

That way he wouldn't have to watch all them instructional videos on how to change the time on his clock radio...

Does Unca Tojo out on that far atoll have to wind his clocks back...

Maybe ALL the way back to December 7th, 1941...???

I'll change the car clock next time I have to drive anywhere. That
may or may be until Friday.

Lemme see, we set two alarm clocks, two battery operated wall clocks,
our thermostat, our answering machine, the microwave, the stove, the air
fryer and two vehicles.
Springing forward is easier than falling back, since the wall clocks
hate going backwards and have to be dialed forward twenty-three hours.
Our computer, iDevices and watches change themselves. Our sprinkler
timer should be set, but I quit using it last year. I'm covered for six
months unless the power goes out. ;)

I have to push a button to change the clock in the car, not that I
actually pay attention to what time it says. :)

It's a trivial thing that your majesty need not worry about.

I am not going to go out and set the clocks in my cars. I will do that
the next time I have somewhere to go. It is a snap in my CRV. It
shouldn't take more than a few seconds.

I have already tackled the upstairs clock and my watches. My analog
watch has not been used in so long that I had to advance the date a
couple days. I got a break on one digital watch because the battery is
dead. The other one took me more than 20 minutes. I watched the video
that said to hold the Mode button until it beeps. It doesn't beep. It
was an exercise in frustration. I tried over and over and over and all
of a sudden I got it. Now I don't remember what it was I did that worked.

You just read an excerpt from "Clocks And I, A Journey", by Dave
Smith. Soon in the better bookstores.

I had a watch with a broken button that was needed to choose minutes
or hours (or day / month / year) to set time. But a different button
could be used to move it ahead OR behind <29 seconds to the nearest
minute which set seconds to 0.

So twice a year, I had to move the time ahead or back an hour by 29 or
less seconds 125 or so times, which took a bit over two hours.

Just think, if you had been a Canadian Pacific Airlines pilot, flying those long - distance Asian, Pacific,
and European routes... you'd have spent *much* more time fiddling with that pesky watch...

Some can be a real PITS, mine is very simple. You just touch the clock
on the screen and it pops up the menu, push DST or STD. Done.

Remember wind - up clocks in cars, Ed... they almost never kept very good time...

And on "base" models, they were optional...

IIRC accurate digital "quartz" clocks started to become a thing in the early 70's or so...

Ah, yes, our Twicer Yearly Clock Change Barker <yawn>. You
must sit at home and watch the grandfather clock tick when
you're not attending to frozen foods in the air fryer or
twice-baking a ham so it can dry out just to sit for 12
hours and dry out even more before insisting it only being
eaten cold.

There isn't a 2:AM this morning. Perhaps you meant 3:AM?

For such a stickler twice a year about the time change, you
should be more aware of the actual Time.

Pink Floyd - "Time" (7:05 w/lyrics). A classic from all our
time's.

More than six months. Nearly eight months.

I have a couple of clocks that have a DST button, so they're trivial
to change. That leaves the thermostat, range hood, and two cars.
Everything else changes itself. Phones, the clock in the home office,
the clock in the workshop, the PCs, the tablet computers.

Everything but the range hood has a battery backup, so we're good
even if the power blinks.

SHEESH... is Steve going through "man - o - pause"...!!!???

"What are the signs and symptoms of man - o - pause?

Change in your period. This might be what we in rec.food.cooking notice first...

Hot flashes. Many women like Steve have hot flashes, which can last for many years after man - o - pause...

Bladder control... an example might be unrestrained urination on innocent garden plants...

Mine is a PITA - so bad a couple of years ago I brought the manual up
here and re-wrote it in plain English on a separate piece of paper I
keep in the glove compartment, that made it a little better but not
much :(

If it's that hard, isn't it easier to remember whether your car
clock's set to the correct time or not?

I tried that but got sick of passengers pointing out the clock was not
telling the right time, no win situation.
