Inter had a corner in the last seconds of injury time, but the resulting header was just palmed off the line by Ederson to deny what would have been a last second equaliser.

FT: Manchester City 1 - Internazionale 0

Manchester City win the Champions League and complete a treble of competition wins this season.

This was a pretty terrible, error strewn match. Really feel I wasted my

Oh well, so maybe I overrated Inter a little bit. Even though they had two massive chances to equalize, but it wasn't Lukaku's day. I am sooo disappointed! Three Italian teams reach the final of European competitions, and they all come up empty-handed. What bad luck!

Feels a bit like Inter let City slip through their fingers tonight. Just for a bit more sharpness in the final third, who knows.....?

Nonetheless, let us take inspiration from Manchester City finally winning the Champions League. They've shown us tonight that if you spend, spend, spend, and spend just a bit more...................then one day you can achieve your dreams.

And it's final. 1-0 City.
Triumph of Pep.

In the end the gulf in class wasn't that big but City won't mind. They got what they wanted. But I have to say, they didn't play nearly as well as against Madrid. Maybe it was Inter's defense too but they did many more mistakes themselves. At some point it even looked doubtful.
Inter worthy adversaries nevertheless.

So a typical final, then?

True words from Twitter.

"
It took Manchester United 13 years of hard work and wise decisions under
Sir Alex Ferguson to win the treble.

It took Manchester City 15 years of financial doping and cheating to
achieve the same thing.

That's why yesterday meant nothing to football history.

> Inter worthy adversaries nevertheless.

Inter gave an excellent account of themselves. Not because of the big chances they had at the end, which came about by throwing the kitchen sink at City, but by denying City the ability to play their game pretty much most of the game.

As for City, they looked as flat as they did against United in the FA Cup final. Almost makes me wonder if it isn't just physical and mental exhaustion catching up with them, just like it did with Liverpool at this stage of the quadruple quest last season. If so, fingers crossed that some of this spills into next season like it did for Liverpool. But it obviously won't because they'll just bring in 200M+ worth of fresh blood this summer.

Going back to Inter, good to see a revival of the A-grade shithousery that Serie A was renowned for at the turn of the century. The way Barella, Acerbi, and Dimarco all went down in a heap of agony after being barely breathed upon would have brought tears to even Diego Simeone's eyes.

Player-wise, Onana was super impressive, but Lautaro Martinez has to be the most overrated striker in world football at the moment.

Have you seen the spending page in the other thread ? I'm not sure if it's all OK but I guess the part with United and City being at the top of spending in the last 10 years, in this order, is true. Just the results are very different. Ferguson's era is long gone, now this is the reality.

I don't know how much it means to football history. They did the treble which is rare, and shows they were truly and by far the strongest. If they don't follow it up with a few other UCL wins I guess it won't mean very much.

I think it's mostly City's fault. Their game was full of errors. If they had played like this against Real I suspect it would still have been 4-0, but the other way around. :) Luckily for them they met a team they could still beat, even in this form.

My guess is they had a UCL-winning complex. Fortunately, they met a team some distance below them and could finally win it, so they probably got rid of it. We'll see in coming years.

There was a shot by Haaland that could have been better, and there was a moment when the City keeper was way out and an italian noticed it and tried to capitalise on it, but it went far away. City more dominant, had a few more half-chances but nothing very dangerous.

I didn't quite get it why KDB had to be subbed, didn't show anything on TV. Losing him might prove costly. Anyway, so far there didn't seem to be excessive hacking. Though 3-4 cards would have been in order (one of them for City).

Plus, they probably did relax a bit, knowing it's Inter they have to play with. They tried not to, of course, but it's only human. In the end they got the result.
