You weren't motivated by the chance to win $1 million. Also, in TAR they
can take notes throughout the race and study them. If teams make good
use of their downtime, tasks such as the flags one, are a lot easier.

She was the young woman who caught my attention by describing herself
as “feral” in the pre-game interview. As to her demise in S44, she was
idoled
out in a 1-0 vote.

Maddy was great. She came to play and she's very entertaining. The only
other people from S44 that I would like to see again are Sarah and
Frannie. A Mattless Frannie would be a threat to win IMHO.

Except Frannie has become pretty visible, appearing on podcasts and such, so
everyone will know she's good if she returns. Same problem would affect
Emily from S45 if she came back. Returning players almost never win unless
it's an all-returnee or half-returnee season (Boston Rob might be the only
exception), and Jeff seems to prefer mostly new players nowadays.

I didn't mean to imply I want to see these guys again in a season of
"all" new players. It would have to be a returning players season for
the reasons who stated. I'd actually like to see a season of New Era
people mixed with pre-S40 people. They could do a "Screwed Over" season
with 20 past players who were negatively impacted by stupid twists. A
couple of examples would be Danny (S41) and Victoria (S38).

Unfortunately (or maybe it's fortunate, depending on how you look at it),
Jeff's current mindset seems to be no more "theme" seasons, no more
returning player seasons (except for the occasional injured player return),
no more this vs. that season or second or third chances, etc. He seems to
really be enamored with the idea of new players with new "stories" we get to
unfold as the season goes on, so I think we'll be forced to endure that
until ratings eventually start to fall.

I can't see CBS letting S50 go to waste and I doubt Jeff will either.

That's a fair point, not to mention that next summer will mark 25 years that
the show has been on the air. It's hard to imagine them not doing
SOMETHING to celebrate such significant milestones which will occur in
back-to-back calendar years (S50 should nominally air in 2026). The only
caveat is that ratings for the show continue to be quite good (more than 4.5
million viewers which isn't nothing), it is the top-rated reality show on
the network and second only to 60 Minutes in non-scripted shows, and the
network probably doesn't want to mess too much with a format that has been
working well for them. It's also hard to come up with a gimmick they can
use that won't undermine Jeff's previous aversion to more gimmicks and his
desire to just label the seasons by the numbers. But mostly it's just hard
to envision what they could possibly do for S50 that would compare with the
S40 all-winners season where only previous winners could appear. Sure,
they could do another All Winners with just the New Era winners along with
the rejects who didn't make S40 cut like Mike Halloway, Tommy Sheehan and
the like, but who really will want to see that? I dunno, we'll have to see
what they come up with.

There's been rumors for several years that S50 will be a Legends season
which would be cool but I don't see that happening. Would Hatch play?
Would Jeff want Russell back? What incentive would have to be offered to
people such as Tony, Boston Rob, Sandra, and Parv to get them to play
again? A $5 million pot with a $100K appearance fee? Another problem
with doing a Legends season is no one from the New Era can be considered
a legend. By this time next year we should know what they've decided to do.

Problem with doing a "Legends" season is they basically already did that
through a combination of "Game Changers" and "Winners at War". And other
than Hatch and Hantz (neither of whom is likely to be invited), who else
would qualify as a legend that didn't appear on one of the earlier two
seasons? After a while, it gets a little bit absurd bringing the same
"greatest players" or all-stars or whatever you want to call them back over
and over for yet another iteration.

Now what would be interesting to me and to fans of the international
versions would be some kind of All-Star or Greatest Player season that
included players from the US, Australian and South African seasons, along
with perhaps a token player or two from the UK and New Zealand seasons all
competing against one another. I think it would be possible to have, say,
five players from the US, five from Oz, five from SA and maybe two from NZ
and one from the recent UK season. Now THAT would be pretty interesting and
could perhaps be simulcast in all five countries, which would be a
legitimate world-wide event. Could it happen? Maybe. It's been talked
about from time to time and I think there is enough synergy between the
various English-language versions that perhaps some variant of what I'm
talking about could be pulled off.

Am I going to hold my breath on this? No. But it would definitely fit the
bill as something worthy enough of the US show's 25th anniversary or 50th
season celebration.

Yeah, a "Legends" season would definitely require inviting people back
we've already seen a million times.

I was going to mention this idea but after some reflection decided it
would look bad to celebrate the 50th season of the U.S. version by
showcasing foreign versions.
