Lutheranism is very relevant. My grandfather was a Welsh Methodist preacher, in fact quite a celebrated one. He used to do impersonations of other ministers which had the congregation in fits. He used to ride a motorbike to services and was a very good swimmer and diver. I went to his services as a child and though they were mostly in Welsh, I did develop a strong affinity for Welsh hymns which has lasted to this day. I listen to a lot of modern gospel music and have done the odd gig with gospel choirs, which I really loved. My father used to play Welsh hymns on the piano, plus a lot of Bach, including excerpts from the WTC. So it's all in the blood with me.

It hardly needs stating how important the church was to Bach - it's at the heart of all his music. And it's a tradition that is very much alive in many European countries - Wales of course, but Lutheranism is also the largest religious group in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Norway and Sweden. It's big in Namibia, North Dakota and South Dakota as well.

It's on wikipedia that she's Jewish though... not sure why Frank had trouble finding anything about her being Jewish or not....

Interestingly she has similar looks to the owner of a greek restaurant I know. So even if I had known about her looks I couldn't have been 100% sure.... could have been a Turkish family who went to france or we... It's on wikipedia that she's Jewish...

I didn't look things up. It is just that I wasn't sure if she was Jewish or not and that her name alone was not sufficient evidence to be certain about concluding this about her; as I said: I would have guessed she was Jewish..

It's not like Rachel Yakar is like Moishe Cohen lol... and probably Cohen (even though it is a very Jewish name) exists also (with a different meaning) in other languages (completely unrelated to Judaism, as opposed to Yakar's name -- just thinking that this is a possibility among billions of people).

As I said: I would have guessed she was Jewish; my point was: Not every Yakar is Jewish, and while Rachel is obviously another indicator, it still wasn't clear - Frank wasn't 100% sure as well.
