I was a member back in the late 80s, when 'leg protectors' and the 100PS
limit were threatened on the basis of faked (or, charitably, 'faulty')
evidence.

So I read a few of Neil Liversidge's (MAG chairman) columns in Back
Street Heroes magazine (via Readly); Mostly they contained rants about
'woke' culture and 'minorities' ruining everything - while failing to
define either, and without the self awareness to admit that motorcycle
riders are a minority ourselves.

I wouldn't go within barge-pole touching distance of them.

Riding on the train today, I was wondering if it used regenerative
braking. It appears the chances are good that it did.

It is now, that was figured out in 1956.

Once most cars are electric though, the infrastructure will be handy.

Industrial rotary UPS is a thing. I argued for them to protect LINAC
bunkers as conventional systems create a powerout for several seconds,
breaking any radiotherapy session in progress. An event/dose that is
difficult to quantify to the point of failure and to replan,
particularly when high dose rate Hyperfractionation was deployed.

But the NHS puts money before patients. In 10 years >two treatment
sessions were disrupted. I didn't think that was acceptable when a
prevention strategy was available. Other opinions are available.

Dropping the HT power to a £1.8M treatment system isn't efficatious
either (battery UPS protects the file systems)

Then again I also suggested the NHS deploy WiFi and cellphone coverage
through the hospital, because it would inevitably become critical.
It was a really neat system

Going back to provision a 62,000sq/m Oncology centre 6 years later cost
A_Lot more.

The clue is in Switzerland.
EM brakes allowed the buses to deploy a steady braking force going down
long steep mountain roads without overheating the friction brakes or
loading the gearbox.
