I think I have had grits on an earlier visit so avoided them - no-one
appears to like them.

Nashville to my mind is overdoing it and was a place where significantly
I felt that some of the service received was not of the usual high
standard - they seem to have become so determined to maximise country
music I think they have lost a little sight of themselves.

Elsewhere I generally loved, although there was not perhaps the
outstanding scenery that you might experience elsewhere. To sit in the
Houston Control Room observers' gallery with moon landing and the first
step onto the moon played in close to real time was something else.

Memphis I felt I struck lucky with a couple of restaurants to both
sample local fare and that really is a matter of chance. Atlanta and
Martin Luther King (and Memphis and his assassination) will stand out.
And I am sure I could have spent more time in New Orleans as we did not
have time to go and find music - or cover all of the trolleybus lines -
most annoying that I did not manage that.

I was going to ask Nick if he had needed antibiotics (but thought better
of it). I now see that grits is like measles, if you've had it once
you're unlikely to have it again.

We spent a few days in New Orleans in 1990. I like that US hotels have
2 king size beds in the room, so parents and 2 offspring can share,
We had grits I think as part of breakfast. A sort of porridge? I have
porridge 4/5 times a week but not on the same plate as pancakes and
bacon. we visited a few jazz venues in New Orleans. And the
battleground where the British lost.

The Battle of New Orleans occurred on 8 January 1815, which was after the
Treaty of Ghent had been signed, ending the War of 1812 (on 24 December
1814.) The victory claimed by the United States should strictly therefore
be disallowed.

I think not, especially since the USA are not signatories to the
International Criminal Court and so are entitled to make up any rules
they like.
