not fired it up yet as no bband until Monday but, yes, it has iplayer, ITVX
etc via apps. I don't tend to watch much linear TV so should work okay for
me. Effectively, for �20 it has converted my old TV into a smarter TV.

which channel you were watching.

Then again this was back in 1982 or so when I did a little work in a TV
and video repair workshop so my memory could be a little sketchy.
The fun we had clapping when someone switched a newly repaired

That would make more sense, the line time base was always 15kHz IIRC one of the
reasons the Motorola TACS kit used 12.5kHz in place of the 15kHz used in their
AMPS for feeding various oscillators was an attempt to avoid TVI.

Given this ^^^ with a fixed LO the IF would be that +/- the LO frequency from
the actual signal.

Dunno. About 10 years ago? I remember because I suddenly realised that
the storylines of things like Inspector Morse were increasingly
disrupted. I also noted that the recorded programmes (sans ads) were a
couple of minutes shorter than previous. Now down to about 45-46 minutes
per 'hour of viewing'.

The LO has to vary so you can have a fixed IF, isn't having a fixed IF
(usually at a lower frequency than the RF signal) the whole point of
a superheterodyne tuner?
