Yes and the issues are not ending there. apparently most telecom companies
have already been told that battery back up for the vulnerable is expected,
but I'd imagine much like Virgin are, they ignore it and simply plug your
phone in the router then you have to get somebody to reconnect your
extensions for you. I also notice that BT are launching a range of big
button phones that are compatible with the new Digital lines for 2025. As
far as I am aware this is rubbish, since most current phones will work
anyway, its yet another cynical move to convince the older or less tech
savvy into buying something they don't need.

I hope they don't have the same design errors as some previous BT
'phones that were targetted at disabled people. The minor instructions
for ringer loudness, DTMF/Loop-disconnect and various other options were
embossed in black on the black side panel - they were unreadable to
fully-sighted people unless you got the light reflected just right.

The ringer was high piched, well into the range of age-related hearing
loss. Even when it was set to full volume, most people with H/F.
hearing loss wouldn't have been able to hear it.
