You are labouring under a misapprehension. I would be delighted if

Again you've got it all muddled up.

My bodyclock is what it is, and I have a right to reply to the often
quite vicious (even machine gun) allegations made against me. The plan
at the moment is to spend maybe an hour mopping up the overnight Usenet,
then most of the rest of the day on dozens of other projects which have
been postponed while my wife was terminally ill, and those new projects
arising because of the bureaucracy now she's passed away.

Today for example, I'm not only trying to finish off some plumbing
before visitors arrive for the weekend, but also filling in lengthy
forms to claim death grants, survivors pensions and so on, where the
copies of paperwork they demand have been hard to find.

I've got a bit distracted by a request (via Facebook) from someone for
footage of my (other) best friend's burial which took place in November.

Yesterday it was writing to DVLA to ask why they cancelled the Direct
Debit for my car's tax, without informing me, which had some knock
effects which cost me a day and a half last week. And trying get my
router to do VoIP on my new FTTP connection (I swapped because the old
ISP was bleeding me to death with price rises, but I couldn't do it
earlier because of the daily calls my wife got from various bits of the
NHS on our old landline).

The wallpaper TV is just what I have in the background while I wrestle
with things on three different PCs on the kitchen table. I find that
working in silence is unhelpful, and I don't want to get completely out
of touch with current affairs.

ps. Now you've distracted me for another half hour, rinse and repeat.
Back to the plumbing now, because it's stopped raining and some of the

I attended at least two funerals by video during lockdown. It seems to
have become a standard part of the crematorium and/or funeral director’s
offering.

minded these days and it is another opportunity to add an optional but
money making extra ,along with the hire of expensive horse drawn hearses
for people whose only contact with horses before has been a bet on the
Grand National.

Most crematoria offer a streaming service these days. Very useful for
relatives who would like to attend but can't travel for whatever reason.

a feed of the PA system.

organised one and that was a long time ago.

The whole horse drawn hearse thing - usually with the horses heads sporting
some black feather god knows what - is very 1960s Krays Brothers chavvy. No

changed so much in recent times. So is no longer a Church service, then
a trip to a muddy graveyard. More likely to be a celebration with the
actual cremation taking place out of sight <thread convergence> see all

There's the thing, people aren't distressed and upset these days (that's
something whipped up by classic church/graveyard proceedings). By a
month or two later, when old friends gather to reminisce, they've got
over it.

And obviously, when done professionally, there's no "in the face"
involved anyway. The clip I shared was taken from a discreet distance.

That's one element of a "funeral", there may be others. Such as a
burial, or a scattering of ashes. Plus the celebration (of the
deceased's life) afterwards.

The prepay funerals as advertised on TV are unattended cremations.

Here the burial follows the formal celebration
(and may include some more elements of it) but
can be followed by having food and coffee or
other drinks together.

Goes back to prehistoric times in some cultures, and of course, was a
mainstay of Christian churches. In the latter case it led to a whole
industry of fake relics.

Celebration my arse. Human nature doesn't change. I'm sure some people
celebrate when grandma or whoever has died and they know an inheritance is
coming their way but in general a funeral is a sad time.

another family meet up , but its different for close family.

Interesting, maybe it is a generation thing. My Nephew in Law who is 30
specifically asked
for some of his fathers ashes to be set aside for that purpose, though in
this instance he was doing the incorporation himself, a bracelet and
medallion thing he sometimes wears and some trinkets like a paperweight for
his Mum.
Not for me I’m afraid my brother and I started to pour our dads ashes into
the corner of one of his fields but he had other ideas , an exceptionally
strong gust of wind came from no where and deposited him in a nearby wood
he had planted 70 years before.
