I switched to colour laser, and no more worries. The printer always
works, even if idle for a month. It is actually cheaper than my previous
inkjet, considering the many cartridges I had to ditch.

When I had an inkjet printer, I configured a task (which autoran weekly, but you
could set any schedule) that printed a sample document in order to keep the
cartridges fresh.

It's similar to doing system backups - if you have to do it manually, there
could be times when it doesn't get done, but if you schedule it, it usually
happens on time.

I try to get my business customers to do the same
thing. It does not make a good impression when
you send something to your customer and the
perspiration on your fingers smears the document.

I am still on a black and white laser. Can't afford
a color laser.

I use a laser printer for most things. The inkjet prints photos better.
I use it to print Christmas cards.

BTW, that "print something" was a little harder than expected. The
printer was out of cyan in.

And the backup device is online when it shouldn't be, making it
susceptible to things like malware and erroneous deletions. You can't
have everything.
