I read both groups. And I try to read all the posts.

It is a nuisance when somebody insists on writing and breaking the tread
by posting to only one of them, forcing me to check both groups instead
of deleting one.

That you do not want to write on windows group is irrelevant, your
method is not polite.

To be clear, the Frank mentioned here from AHR is not Frank Slootweg. I

they have the same first name (and I don't know what the other one's

Not quite. The false and rather offensive accusation of double
standards. (The playing net-cop criticism is bogus, but that's not my
main beef.)

Again, that you don't follow the thread is fine, but slinging
offensive accusations around, because you can't be bothered to backtrack
what you didn't read, is a no-no in my book.

Sigh!

You *frequently* crosspost to totally unrelated groups. Specifically -
as I explained several times - your crossposting to alt.home.repair is
*nearly always* improper, because your topic is not even remotely
related to home repair.

[Details of practice of not stripping groups - which is GOOD - deleted.]

It's not that you respond, but that people respond to you, *after*
you've broken the crosspost. Those responses don't appear is the cut-off
group, creating two unconnected discussions for those people who *do*
want to follow the thread, i.e. people who are subscribed to
alt.comp.os.windows-10 are cut off from the subthread after you broke
the crosspost.

IOW, it's not about your posts, it's about *other* people's posts,
after *you* broke the crosspost.

So, as I said, you should stop using it to respond to crossposted
articles. (Using it to respond to articles posted to a single group is
of course fine.)

Get a clue, will you!? The original crosspost was OK. READ the
Subject: header.

Get off your uninformed high horse! There's no 'net-cop Micky
bashing'! *micky* responded to *my* comment that I filtered unrelated
crossposts to the troll-group alt.home.repair. Again you haven't read
the (sub-)thread(s), but throw around accusations.

> and this current
> crosspost bitchfest are examples.

This is only a 'bitchfest', because you keep on doing the wrong thing
(break the crosspost), against the advice of - apparently - much more
experienced Usenet users (me, Carlos).

Note that micky has said the same thing - don't break crossposts - so
by your 'logic' he's both a 'victim' (of me alleged net-cop actions)
*and* the 'enemy' (because he's against you in this 'crosspost
bitchfest').

I know you don't mind 'too much' traffic in comp.mobile.android, but
realize that your (impolite) practice (of breaking crossposts) also
results in *too little* traffic in the cut-off group.

Thanks for the clarification (for others).

BTW, I assume the same goes for 'T' - i.e. two different T's, or do
you mean a single one (both in alt.home.repair and in
alt.comp.os.windows-10)?

Get over yourself with "your long published scruples? Do as I say..."
offensive accusations of double standards. It's all and only in your
head, not on any actual record.

As to the first sentence: Still not reading for comprehension are we!?
The thread was/is *crossposted* and rightly so (and once crossposted,
the crosspost should not be broken). What you call "this non-Android BS
in the Android group" is - as I *said* - thread drift. Yes, thread
drift is often off-topic. OTOH, talking about Usenet practice on Usenet
is often legit.

Anyway, if you don't like the 'off-topic' stuff, take it up with those
who started the subthread(s) (and didn't mark them OT). *I* can do well
without your misinformed and misdirected claptrap.

And no, adding some smileys does *not* justify/excuse the offense/
insults.

Have you read anything of what I - *and others* - wrote? Did you
understand any of it?

Did you see that *micky* gave the exact same "OT sermon" on (not)
cutting crossposts?

Or were you too busy thinking of 'cute' offensive one-liners with
'cute' smileys?

I see. I say that micky isn't actually doing what he claims he's doing
*AND* I commend him for his proper way of not breaking crossposts, but
that somehow magically makes me a net-cop. Rather peculiar definition of
net-cop.

There's some reference here to USENET clients, and it's a mixed lot.
Possibly a paid client would work better, but then you'd need to
find a review somewhere, to verify it is feature-complete.

https://groups.google.com/g/comp.mobile.android/c/Z-ZUUdnkcEY

Even Thunderbird isn't feature complete, but not in a way that
affects others or the general health of threads.

Exactly *which* part of the "*AND*" bit did you miss / not understand!?

Sure, a 'cop' *might* 'correct' and commend in the same exchange, but
that's not very likely, is it!?

But I get it, any time anyone says something 'negative' and something
positive, (s)he's a 'cop'.

From now on, only positive feedback on these groups or you'll face the
wrath of AJL, or worse, his 'humour'.

I think were done. Agreed? I'm a net-cop. You act like a jerk. News at
eleven.

Thanks. (For obvious reasons,) I don't follow AHR, so, for the time
being, let's assume they're two different T's.

I think we've now crossed our T's. Any I's to dot?

I used to work as a computer programemer for Keane, Inc.(based near
Boston but in several cities) and Mr. Keane had written a short book
called the Two-Minute Manager, and he gave copies to all the employees,
I think.

And its whole point was that when rebuking an employee, you should start
with 30 seconds of praise, then one minute of rebuke and iirc 30 seconds
of more praise.

So theoretically it's likely, but otoh, in all the time I was there, no
one ever treated me that way. I got criticism several times but don't
remember any praise at all, LOL

Alt.home.repair does not count because we have a well-established
practice of posting non-political stuff like what I post.

We're not talking about politics, which afaicr I only post to AHR, but
about computers or phones and everyone in AHR has a computer and a cell
phone and they are interested, They are interested in cars too,
anything mechanical or electric.

Since iiuc you don't read and iiuc have never been inclined to read AHR,
I don't understand your concern for whether posts there are on topic or
not.
As I said, I find the notion that newsgroups must stick to their named
topic to silly. There are advantages to that and they were more
important when even one ng carried more traffic than a person could
read, but traffic is light now and all of us are interested in many
things. And just like I know who in AHR makes sense and who does not,
they have their opinions of me and some may well have filtered me out if
they think I'm not worth reading.

BTW even though I replied to you first many posts ago, to defend AHR, I
think this is what AJL means by "micky bashing". :-)

BTW2, I have't prefixed the subject of these posts with OT because I
think a change in subject will break the thread in some readers
depending on their settings. Yes, you can still find the first part but
it seems like a lot of touble when you have 10's of thousands of
headers.

Debated whether to add AHR or not. Did so, because it needs
non-political excitement.

>[Details of practice of not stripping groups - which is GOOD - deleted.]

This of course is not bashing but the rest of it was.

And it turns out I misspelled repiar in home repair so it did not show

Who agreed to that? I've been reading alt.home.repair for ages and never
came across such an agreement or discussion to pollute that newsgroup.
In fact, for a long time it was one of the few groups that mostly stuck
to home repair topics.

However, I've decided to filter you specifically from a.h.r since you've
made it clear that your posts will deliberately add noise.

At this stage and probably much earlier (it) no longer applies to
alt.comp.os.windows10.

Since my comment was about Win10(this group), the two other
groups(android, and home repair have been removed for this reply.

That's true. I resisted the off topic threads for several months until
they goaded me into a reply. Several other regulars also had replied. I
gather a few left the group, but it's hard to tell, usually not noticed,
when someone leaves.

I post on topic as well, a substantial percentage of new on-topic
threads. And I mark the off-topic threads I start as OT. So you only
have to filter on that.

I still see you on newsgroups where you post appropriately. I just felt
that your deliberate OT posts in a.h.r were harming that newsgroup and I
didn't want to encourage that behavior with responses.

I started posting in a.c.f in 1998, even before you, John Corliss and
the notorious BearBottoms were a thing. I changed my handle to kelown
about 2 years ago due to a malicious spoofer using my old handle.

So what were you called before?

I changed my handle one or more times, iirc something to do with getting
a different computer and not remembering how to make it like the
previous one. I know I was mm for a while, and before that I don't
remember what I was. Sometimes when I'm searching the web I come across
someone with the same questions or opinions I have. That's very
pleasing but after a while, I realize I'm reading my own post.

IIRC, I've had 3 handles but I don't quite remember the first one (that
I used the longest). I switched to "M.L." after getting a new computer.
I kept that handle until someone started impersonating it (impersonated
other posters too). So I changed to my current handle.

They are the same person. T (Todd) posts in AHR as well as the Windows groups.
By saying that, I'm not spilling any beans.
