What will you be enjoying this evening? Long and slow cooking
or just something quick you've thrown together?

Here it will be chunked up ham and scrubbed new potatoes into
the pot before a head of rough chopped cabbage is added. The
liquid for this dish had a heaping teaspoon of BTB baked ham
base added to amp up the flavor a bit. A small skillet of
cornbread will accompany this meal as well.

Wednesday I drove the 37 miles to my brother's house and from
there I rode with him and sister-in-law to a dying former
sister-in-law's house and spent several hours there. She may
be a former sister-in-law, but we still love her and hate to
see her go what we consider is far too soon. After returning
to brother and sister-in-law's house then I had to drive the
37 miles back to my house and I was pooped when I pulled under
the carport at 9:00 p.m.

Even though I didn't feel too enthusiastic about heading to
the kitchen and start rattling pots and pans around, I knew
once this dish is cooked I'll be glad I mustered up the
energy to cook.

Tonight will be the second half of the chicken dish from Tuesday with a
salad.

Tomorrow will be the second half of last night's cheeseburgers and I'll
make a carrot dish to go with it.

Good that you were able to spend some time with the ex-SIL though.

My wife is back after her spa retreat with her sister and I forgot to
get something out of the freezer for dinner. Since I didn't eat the
cooked chicken breast she had left for me that is going to be out supper
tonight. She has baked a couple patty shells and is making chicken a la
king to fill them with.

After a day like that and at 9 pm, I think this was an extraordinary
display of willpower.

Joan, I am sorry about your loss, my sincere condolences...

Here it's a salami and Swiss sammich on an S. Rosen's onion bun...

With wino beat - off Hellmans mayo and spicy ketchup all slathered on...

One thing to remember: Her misery and suffering will also vanish upon her
death. I watched parts of a documentary on william buckley. He said if
there was a pill to allow him to live another 25 years, he wouldn't take it
because he was tired of life. I feel the same way, and I suspect that most
people do, when they get close to the end. Just worn out.

The patty shells were store bought frozen voules au vents. The rest she
faked. She made a white sauce and threw in some frozen peas, chopped
mushrooms, blanche carrots and cubed cooked chicken breast. It was very
tasty.

And your reaction to feeling tired of life is to troll in a newsgroup?
Is it helping at all?

At least someone here had a delicious dinner.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/eLsEJnJjkGCNfAbXA
Taco seasoned ground beef and refried pureed black beans, with shredded
cheese of pan-fried El Milagro yellow corn tortillas. Salsa made in the
blender from a can of tomatoes with green chilies, one fancy heirloom
tomato and one roma, a little salt and garlic powder. Sliced avocado
with a little fresh squeezed lime juice, and topped with Fire Sauce.

Those tortillas were the star. Great tortillas are a joy, and most
Americans have never had one.

Damn, that's pretty fancy mexican vittles. I remember from 50 years ago
when a co-worker's family in mexico came to visit. The women cooked up the
best goddamn tamales I've EVER had, before or after. A huge batch too, I
ate them for a couple of days.

yes, imagine your last post to usenet being something about
sniffing asses or some comment about Master?

who knows when the Grim Reaper shall come and collect his

as for what is cooking or snacking, last night was cheese,
crackers and a few hot sauces. tasty and hit the spot (which
was mainly my goal of blowing out some tastebuds with some
heat and fermented peppers and garlic) which worked well.

We had a big plump chicken breast and roasted potatoes seasoned with
S&P , a touch of garlic and onion powder and oregano for seasoning . All
baked on a cookie sheet at 400° for an hour . Side dish of home
grown/canned green beans .

It sounds like you were able to get a tasty meal going, even with little time.

I had pan seared steak (medium) with brussels sprouts pan fried in butter and lemon juice. It was quite nice.

She's from Belize. Their tamales are shitty, and wrapped in banana
leaves instead of corn husks.
