Is that the one where he didn't have the Latin for the judging? Wasn't
that Peter Cook?

Different sketch, 'didn't have the Latin for the judging' was definitely
Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.

Peter Cook in his E L Wisty persona, I think. Didn't have the Latin for
the judging exams. Very rigorous, the judging exams. Which is why he
became a miner. Less rigorous, the mining exams.

And to wear purple.

Still viewed a bit askance for men though. I don't think even Laurence
L-B or Michael trains would wear purple. (My brother wears bright
trousers a la Michael P, though I don't think he has any bright jackets,
unless for one of the choirs he's a member of, but that wouldn't count.)

Chuckle. There’s also the olde english spelling Erlegh as in Maiden Erlegh
School, which is in Earley too. ICBA to climb up and get my history of
Earley book to find out why its Maiden Erlegh.

Hazel has had to invest time in planning things to be done which are
educational while going to school: Adam can’t deal with group noise or
anything which isn’t a recognisable routine. So, he has been doing two
hours a week in an cycle workshop. His grandad out-law kindly ferries him
so Hazel can work. On a Monday, she incorporates shopping type tasks: his
school is next to their nearest shopping centre. And residential trips
being out she plans something every day he can demonstrate as educational.
It’d be tough doing it as a teacher without experience, let alone a parent
in the dark - fortunately she’s qualified to teach young adults with a few
years working with young people living in care with complex needs, and
young offenders!

I remembered it as Earleigh (1st wife's alma mater, motto "Qui veut.
peut" which was perhaps a little too apposite.) BIMBAM.

Typed in Erlegh and get this

The name Erlegh was given to a member of the family who was a male who was
of manly character. The surname Erlegh originally derived from the Old
English word Eorlic which referred to one who displayed manly
characteristics.

https://www.houseofnames.com/earleigh-family-crest. There is a lot here.

We think the spelling has just evolved over the centuries.

Due to my sister's tendency to run words together and drop insignificant
sounds we (ok, mainly me) have the ability to shout "'Snot!" when
disagreeing with something. Or "'Swet" when discovering something is
damp. On encountering a neighbour we can go with "Oh look, 'Spam".

There is listen again for Talking Pictures, too, but you need to have an
internet-accessing TV or get it on your computer. It's called TPTV Encore.

On my TV (or rather, attached Humax satellite box), and tablet, it's called
BBC Iplayer (other apps are available for other stations). I've got a
feeling there is a channel called Encore too.

On this computer, when I look at https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer, I can
see no mention of TPTV; as Jenny says, they're on
https://www.tptvencore.co.uk/ . It's possible that your kit may make it
all _seem_ to be under iPlayer.

True but not for the entire output as far as I can see (I missed an
episode of the Saint!).

A missing irony smiley I suspect.

As I rarely watch the pictures it is all "listen again" as far as I am
concerned. Particularly as nPVR which is my software of choice seems to
lose its place when replaying TPTV (when I have recorded it in the first
place) often jumping - I assume the signal is missing some form of timer
encoding which needs to be interpreted to ensure smooth playback.
